The King of Spades from the Caelestes collection, professionally framed using museum-quality archival materials. This is Scorpio’s card, featuring an illustration of a celestial hand sprinkling seed to prepare for winter.
In the Caelestes deck, each of the court cards correspond to an astrological sign, which is determined by the card’s value for modality (fixed, cardinal, mutable) and the card’s suit for its element (water, earth, fire, air). Jacks are fixed modality, occurring in the middle of their seasons. Hearts correspond to the tarot suit cups, which in turn represents the element of water.
Thus, the Jack of Hearts is our Scorpio card - the water sign occurring mid-fall. The illustrations on each court card take inspiration from documented Medieval labors of their respective seasons, creating a calendar.
