The Jack of Spades from the Caelestes collection, professionally framed using museum-quality archival materials. This is Aquarius’s card, featuring an illustration of a celestial hand warming itself over flames to stave off the winter chill.
In the Caelestes deck, each of the court cards correspond to an astrological sign, which is determined by the card’s value for modality (fixed, cardinal, mutable) and the card’s suit for its element (water, earth, fire, air). Jacks are fixed modality, occurring in the middle of their seasons. Spades correspond to the tarot suit swords, which in turn represents the element of air.
Thus, the Jack of Spades is our Aquarius card - the air sign occurring mid-winter. The illustrations on each court card take inspiration from documented Medieval labors of their respective seasons, creating a calendar.
