The King of Spades from the Caelestes collection, professionally framed using museum-quality archival materials. This is Pisces’s card, featuring an illustration of a celestial hand holding crossed branches, collected to fuel the final stretch of winter.
In the Caelestes deck, each of the court cards correspond to an astrological sign, which is determined by the card’s value for modality (fixed, cardinal, mutable) and the card’s suit for its element (water, earth, fire, air). Kings are mutable modality, occurring at the end of their seasons. Hearts correspond to the tarot suit cups, which in turn represents the element of water.
Thus, the King of Hearts is our Pisces card - the water sign occurring late-winter. The illustrations on each court card take inspiration from documented Medieval labors of their respective seasons, creating a calendar.
