This 6x8" giclée print features the Jack of Clubs playing card from Caelestes, a deck inspired by medieval interpretations of time and space. 
 
The Jack of Clubs is Leo’s card, featuring an illustration of a celestial hand hoisting wheat from the summer harvest.
 
In the Caelestes deck, each of the court cards correspond to an astrological sign, which is determined by the card’s value for modality (fixed, cardinal, mutable) and the card’s suit for its element (water, earth, fire, air). Jacks are fixed modality, occurring in the middle of their seasons. Clubs correspond to the tarot suit wands, which in turn represents the element of fire. 
 
Thus, the Jack of Clubs is our Leo card - the fire sign occurring mid-summer. The illustrations on each court card take inspiration from documented Medieval labors of their respective seasons, creating a calendar.
