This 6x8" giclée print features the Jack of Diamonds playing card from Caelestes, a deck inspired by medieval interpretations of time and space. 
 
The Jack of Diamonds is Taurus’s card, featuring an illustration of a celestial hand with a freshly-picked spring flower.
 
In the Caelestes deck, each of the court cards correspond to an astrological sign, which is determined by the card’s value for modality (fixed, cardinal, mutable) and the card’s suit for its element (water, earth, fire, air). Jacks are fixed modality, occurring in the middle of their seasons. Diamonds correspond to the tarot suit pentacles, which in turn represents the element of earth.
 
Thus, the Jack of Diamonds is our Taurus card - the earth sign occurring mid-spring. The illustrations on each court card take inspiration from documented Medieval labors of their respective seasons, creating a calendar.
